Life Journey #1

She lost 65 lbs at age 63

In the May 7th 2018 issue of Woman's World, an article grabbed me deep inside. It was based on 10-Day Green Smoothie Cleanse by J.J. Smith.

I've been encouraged to blog my life and it seems fitting that this "adventure" should be the first of many.

Since I was young, weight has been a top concern of my life. My body image in this 64 year old body has not been ideal except for about two times totaling 10-12 years. No good ratio rates, hmmm?

Weight Loss vs Weight Gain

The first day - May 8, 2018

After all the diets I have tried, this might just work if I can stay on it. I am not very disciplined when it comes to food. Maybe if I had a few others who would join me in this drinkable venture? I encourage you to join me.

What is your weight today? High, Low, or Just Right

Having broad shoulders with a chest size that is almost double what my bottom size causes many dilemmas. My wrists, hands, feet and legs are the smallest part so I think of myself as a big apple with sticks. So weight has always been a bit over the average when it is calculated for my height. For a 5 foot 3 inch to 5 foot 4 inch woman, it's 107 to 140 pounds based on the BMI charts. I know when I was healthy and under 30, I seemed to enjoy life at or around 126 pounds.

Today's weight = 191.4 lbs.

To keep seeing these numbers which in the past 2 years have fluctuated between 160 to 190 lbs is a hugh frustration. So I am making my goal for the end of 2018 to be at least 140 lbs. That's 51.4 lbs which seems so unreachable but I am going to give it my best.

While I work on this I will try to share a few stories from time to time including present events for those who enjoy reading.

So let's get started with our first smoothie.
Banana Berry Metabolism Booster Smoothie

In a blender, blitz 2 handfuls of greens, 1/2 cup of water, 1/2 cup green tea, 2 cups mixed berries, chunks of 1 frozen banana (I didn't freeze mine) and 1 scoop of plant-based protein powder. (makes 1-2 servings)

It looks like the photo and taste pretty good. I used spinach/kale combination and Lipton's diet green tea. Reading the notes from Deborah Herald's story and J.J. Smith's slideshow of recommendations, these items can be altered to fit your taste buds.
